Hi everyone! I'm Rosa and this is Spanish weekly words holidays edition, and I'm about to discover what holiday we'll be talking about today, and it’s New Years Day! Nochevieja "New Year's Eve" I had dinner with my family, went out with my friends, then in the morning we have churros with chocolate, hot chocolate, it’s like very typical. En Nochevieja me fui de fiesta con mis amigas. "In New Year's Eve I went partying with my friends.” Especiales de Año Nuevo "New Year's Specials on TV" On new year’s eve they make, like, these special programs normally with some comedians, famous in Spain, so they make some sketches, they also have some kind of concerts with famous singers like normally, when you're having dinner you watch them with your family. Me reí mucho con el último especial de Año Nuevo. "I laughed a lot with the last New Year's Special.” Concierto "Concert" Yep, as I said, in these New Year's Specials there are some concerts by Spanish singers mostly. No conocía a nadie en el concierto de Año Nuevo. "I didn't know anyone from the New Year's concert.” 12 uvas "12 grapes" On television you have like 12 bell strikes, so we've each of these you have to eat one grape and they are supposed to bring you like good luck for the new year. Everyone in Spain does that. Se atragantó con una de las doce uvas "She choked with one of the 12 grapes" Especially older people because you have to eat them like quite quickly so it can be dangerous. Dorado "Golden" So we have these tradition in which you put like a piece of golden something like ring, for example, inside your glass, and you toast with your family, it's supposed to bring you good luck. Ella llevó un vestido dorado en Nochevieja "She wore a golden dress in New Year's Eve." So this is the end of the day Spanish weekly work holidays edition.
